How a Dress is Made
Design Sketch
I draw inspiration from many sources including vintage and runway styles. During our meeting I will determine what sort of dress you are looking for, and either find a match from existing collection or will begin sketching a custom concept of your ideal dress.
Draping
The selected fabric is arranged onto a dress form, the garment’s first step from design concept into beautiful reality. Using your measurements the fabric is manipulated to accentuate your best features and fit the body perfectly.
Pattern making
The different components of the dress are made from the pattern and pieced together perfectly to comprise the finished product.
Ordering Fabric
I order the fabric from around the globe, from New York City to European fashion capitals such as France, Italy, etc.
Hand Sewing
All my dresses are sewn by hand with utmost care and attention to quality and detail.
Hand decorating / Beading
Embellishments and decoration such as beading are done by hand as well, arranged perfectly onto the garment. The result is a beautiful accent to an already exquisite, unique garment.
The Final Gown
When all is finished, the result is the dress of your dreams, handcrafted to your exact measurements, one of a kind work of art is made exclusively for your body, and is as unique as you are.
